From the RPD:
At approximately 4:41 p.m., officers were called to the 1900 block of Cedar Street for the report of a person down.
Officers arrived and found Emma B. Cook, 78, of the 1900 block of Cedar Street, dead from an apparent stab wound.
Detectives quickly developed leads in the investigation, including the fact that the victim’s vehicle was missing. Patrol officers spotted the vehicle at a hotel in the 2600 block of Chamberlayne Avenue last night.
Patrol officers and detectives coordinated efforts and arrested the suspect, the victim’s son, Ronnie S. Cook, 44, of no known address, at the hotel without incident. Cook has been charged with murder, robbery and grand larceny. His photo is attached.
Detectives ask anyone with further information about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 780-1000 or text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both methods are anonymous.
This sounds like a very sad story, but at least the police quickly apprehended the suspect. Keep up the good work RPD!
