Package stolen on Marshall Street
01/15/2014 4:17 PM by John M
From a neighbor:
Amazon package stolen from my porch while I was home today! I’m at 3000 block of East Marshall.
It’s a large package, so please watch your alleys and trashcans for someone dumping it. Contents were my son’s potty present….a Lionel Remote control O Gauge train.
Any help is really appreciated!! Devastated this happens in our community.
That is terrible. It does happen and is why I have all of our packages sent to my work.
I just had a package stolen from my porch as well on Friday. We are one the 2300 block of e. Marshall. Seems like a trend in the neighborhood. Outrageous!
Claire…was it a ups or fedex or usps delivery?? You will have to file a claim with them and I would suggest a police report. Then contact the company the product was coming from , in this case Amazon. Sometimes with proper documentation, they will resend the item.
Sad to say, we rarely have anything delivered to our house any more. I have packages sent to my sister’s house which is not convenient but at least I don’t have to worry that someone will hijack them off of our front porch.
Of course it was stolen.
Amazon has a locker option now you can pick up at a specific location.
It seems like our neighborhood could use one of these: http://www.timesdispatch.com/local/city-of-richmond/amazon-com-locker-installed-at-richmond-convenience-store/image_43e7b46c-f4ef-5a81-a944-473364de6b68.html
Sad to see … Brother and I just moved to CH from the Fan… no one has problems with packages there but we both equally dont like the idea of receiving packages at home in CH… so we dont!
Jay B – Package theft is not a Church Hill issue. The Fan definitely has a big problem with package theft, which is why that area was the first to receive an Amazon locker (named Wallace).
I don’t even get a lot of my mail delivered to my house after I found all of my Christmas cards opened last year.

No package thefts in the Fan? Really? If so, they’re just stealing everything else there…check out the RPD website for a dose of reality.
Sometimes, I want to place a fake package on my porch, just to catch the thief. It won’t help anything, but it would allow me to vent at the deserved.
A Christmas card containing $150 in gift cards never made it to my mailbox back in December…lesson learned.
When I lived off Fairmount, I put in a mail slot after having letters stolen out of the mail box a few times.
Yup, same here John. We have a mail slot so we never have a problem with someone going through our mail. It would be great to see one of those Amazon lockers up here on the hill. Like some other commenters, we send all of our packages to my work address.
