Can you help ID this ladder thief? (UPDATED)
01/20/2014 10:12 PM by John M
The folks at the almost-open Union Market had a ladder stolen today:
We had an extension ladder stolen out of the patio area today. Our neighbor Chris had loaned it to us, and we moved it to the yard along the fence line this morning until we could get in touch with him to return it.
We have security camera footage of a white male, 20s-30s, with a red baseball hat turned backwards, taking it out of the yard and putting it in a silver pickup truck around 3:30 p.m.
Is there any way to post the camera footage?
Come on, people. These guys are investing in our community & we can’t even wait for them to open before the thefts start. SMH. Agree with Karen – please post the footage so we can catch this scumbag.
The suspect was driving a late model silver Chevy pickup extended cab.
What a dirtbag. Looks like he may have been doing some kind of construction and had stuff in the truck bed. Let’s hope whoever he was working for can identify him.
Wow. Almost like he knew it was sitting there and he drove up with the intent to take it. Pretty gutsy – and dumb to do it in broad daylight. Hopefully someone will recognize him or his truck!
That’s a Silverado Z-71 package by the sticker on the back fender. Like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Chevrolet_Silverado_2500.jpg
News editors at WWWBT-12, WRIC-8 and WTVR-6, please run this video on tonight’s news. I bet this guy doesn’t live in our neighborhood. We need some mass media to flush him out. Our hard-working neighbors who are opening need your help. Thanks.
Off topic, but what type of camera is that? That footage is FANTASTIC!
He should be arrested simply for not knowing how to parallel park even when there aren’t any other cars around. And I imagine passers by probably thought he belonged there. I know I wouldn’t have thought anything of it.
Could he even see it from the street? My guess is that he lives nearby and saw it while walking.
Probably not related, but also watch out for people driving around trying to sell tools. I was having some porch work done last Saturday, and a truck pulled up trying to sell ladders to my contractor.
If he’s caught, he should also get a ticket for parking in a bus stop.
#13 & anyone who see’s this sort of activity, please call the police, or at least write down their details (i.e., license #, description, etc) to alert the police once they leave. As someone who has had tools stolen, anything to increase the chances of catching these dirtbags helps!
