Favorites: Sub Rosa’s salami and cheese croissant
01/22/2014 9:14 AM by John M
As part of his ongoing series of Favorites, Daniel Warshaw got this great photo of Sub Rosa’s salami and cheese croissant.
A simple food done well–like a crisp, buttery croissant–needs little help to make it delicious. Sub Rosa bakes nearly perfect croissants, but they also know how to add the right ingredients to elevate the humble roll. My favorite version is the salami and cheese croissant ($4.25). Tucked inside the flakey dough are slices of rich Olli salami melted into sharp and nutty Manchego cheese.
Othe local Favorites include Alamo BBQ’s brisket sandwich, WPA Bakery’s apple pie with cheddar cheese, Urban Farmhouse’s oatmeal, The Roosevelt’s mussels & Smith Cross Road cocktail, and Proper Pie’s chicken and kumara savory pie.
