Are there coyotes in Fulton?
01/24/2014 8:04 AM by John M
From the Fulton Hill facebook group:
I live about 2 blocks north of the NRC and I swear I saw a wolf or coyote run down the alley behind my house, and into the woods. Has anyone else seen wildlife like this around here? I just wanted to put it out there for any of those small dog/outdoor cat owners out there.
I’ve seen several Foxes in the area, but nothing as big as a coyote or wolf.
I have also seen a fox up in the Chimborazo Park area.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised if there were coyotes in Fulton. It’s close to a rural, heavily wooded area, and there’s plenty of food and places to roam and hide.
I’ve never seen a coyote, but I have seen deer, raccoons, possums and wild turkeys in the alley behind my house. Foxes and skunks also occur in Richmond.
Coyotes are very adaptable and do occur in urban environments, with known sightings in cities as large as New York and Toronto, so your sighting is a real possibility.
If you google ‘coyotes Richmond’ you’ll get a few hits including sightings in Carytown, Chesterfield and Midlothian.
There’s a fox that lives on the Canal Walk next to Casa del Barco.
No idea about coyotes in the area but I’ve seen cougars at Poe’s…
Patrick Henry’s is the couger bar up here for real.
They help rid us of our aged and infirm.
