MAJOR CRIMES

2014: 6
Result: 65% DecreaseProperty Crime: (2014 compared to 2013) 2013: 39
2014: 43
Result: 10% IncreaseTOTAL CRIME MAJOR CRIME (2013 compared to 2012) 2013: 193
2014: 150
Result: 13% DecreaseAlthough we are currently at a 13% decrease in Major Crime for the year, I am concerned about the 10% increase in property crimes. Many of the crimes were situations in which the actions of the citizens created the opportunities for the offender. For example residence windows left open or unlocked, residence doors left unlocked, valuables being left in plain view in vehicles etc.
So far this year we have had 11 burglaries to residential properties (compared to four this time last year). This is a 175% increase in residential burglaries. On two occasions, the offender entered the residence through an unsecure window while the homeowner was asleep in bed. Simply locking the window may have prevented this intrusion.
