Celebrate 3 new houses coming to 35th Street
Councilwoman Newbille invites all to the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity Groundbreaking Celebration at 1516 North 35th Street on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 4:00-5:00 PM.
The groundbreaking will be for three houses being built. Sponsored by the Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity, the event will include special guest performers from Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey.
Established in 1986, Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity is a local nonprofit Christian housing organization affiliate of the national Habitat for Humanity ministry. Its work includes constructing, rehabilitating or preserving homes; advocating for fair and just housing policies; and, providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions.
awesome news!
Was the infill design approved by CAR and did the public have a say before all of this is about to take place?
Eric…just curious…why would the public “have a say” if CAR has approved and private funds are being used? Would the public be able to have a say for any construction going on at your place if it were approved by the city?
While the area is part of the Oakwood-Chimborazo National Historic District, it is not in any of the city’s Old and Historic District and so does not require CAR approval.

I am sorry but Eric, that comment is atrocious. We are talking about Habitat for Humanity. You can’t seriously be asking that question? This is for charity. It won’t look like a slum. Please go thumb your nose at something else. Maybe someone’s dog took an accidental dump on your sidewalk.
