Sector 111 crime report for March
Lt.Minton’s Sector 111 report for March (PDF) is now available. Sector 111 encompasses Church Hill, Chimborazo, Church Hill North, Fulton, Oakwood, and Union Hill:
So far this year we have had 19 violent crimes compared to 20 last year. Violent crime in February was up by one compared to last year. We went from 6 to 4 in robberies.
2 of these were committed by two different groups of juveniles in different areas. We made an arrest of a juvenile in another robbery in Church Hill North. The other robbery occurred on Tuxedo Boulevard and was reported a week after the crime.
Aggravated Assaults is were we saw the increase. We went from 3 to 7. Three of these came from the shooting that occurred in the 4900 block of Government Road (Greater Fulton). We are having a community meeting in regards to this senseless act, see [HERE] in reference to location and time.
The other 4 aggravated assaults were committed by people with poor problem resolution skills. One of those being a mother that threw bleach on her daughter. Another was a stabbing victim that went to Community Hospital, this victim refused to tell us where it happened, what happened, and did not want the police to be involved. The third assault was a case of two friends arguing over a phone conversation which led to a knife fight. The victim did not want to do anything about it since they were “friends”. And finally, the last incident was an argument that resulted in the victim being stabbed with a fork. This victim did not want to do anything about the incident either.
Great job Lt. Dan and team! You guys (and gals) are rolling! Thanks for the hard work and boots on the ground efforts. Any thoughts about increasing the presence/ pressure on the loitering/ possible dealing outside of Blue Wheeler. Maybe if the cruiser on the beat would just park there for a while, occasionally get out and ask questions and generally make those on the corner feel uncomfortable about being there? If police activity such as this was fairly routine, they’d probably disappear.
Laura,
Believe it or not, they’ve actually been doing that for a couple years now. It’s no secret who’s dealing and the police are very aware but have had no luck getting him off the street for good. It’s not for lack of trying though…
LAURA ND ALEX U DNT LIKE IT MOVE
THE POLICE NO WHATS GOIN ON THEY DNT CARE TRUST ME UDO U HAVE SOMETHING AGAINST BLUEWHEELER WHAT GOES ON OUT THAT STORE THEY HAVE NTHIN TO DO WITH IT WHAT ABOUT THAT METH HOUSE ON 32STREET THE HOUSE CAUGHT ON FIRE U DNT HEAR ANYTHING ABOUT THAT DOE!!
Maybe cool it with the whole internet yelling with caps-lock on? Not a very pleasant way to dialogue.
What you have to say is important, but if you are just yelling then people tune it out.
Monique….darling…I have nothing against Blue Wheeler as a business in the hood. I apologize if my statement offended you. The activity outside Blue Wheeler, however, is an issue with me as well as most other law-abiding residents of the neighborhood…and I don’t apologize for that. It creates a negative atmosphere in the area that is damaging…real or perceived.
And Monique, I’ve lived in Church Hill for 25 years. I’ve seen a lot–much worse than what we see today. Trust me, I’m not going anywhere…the job is still not done.
