Keep an eye on your bikes and lawnmowers, folks…

From Mike on Chimborazo:
Apparently someone broke into [a neighbor’s] fenced back yard. I don’t know if anything was stolen as I haven’t seen them today. This evening my side garage door was open. Nothing was taken and the door did not appear forced. My [other neighbor] also states that her back yard (which has a chained/locked gate) was broken into. She does not think anything was taken. […]
Nothing bad has happened yet, but it smells like something is brewing.
Getting this reminded me that we’re entering yard equipment theft season. Lock your sheds and all that.
TAGGED: crime
I’ve had a lawn mower and two weed-whackers stolen over the past few years. I’ve learned locking your shed won’t matter.
Yeah, unfortunately we have had some very expensive lawncare machines (weedwhacker AND mower) stolen from our locked shed inside a fenced in yard. We had an alarm installed and bought guns 🙂
I saw the “Ten-Speed Bandit” again last week. Teenager on a 10-speed, stole a neighbor’s cell phone a few weeks ago. Last week he had a kid’s BMX type bike, pulling it along as he rode on his bike. Called the police. Watch out for this bastard.
They got into our garage the other day and evidently came back a second time. Whoever it was got one of my bikes and left another in the alley.
Do people mind sharing how they are breaking into locked sheds (through windows, busting down a door, cutting locks) and what type of sheds they are (ie metal, wood frame, etc). This will help the rest of us implement more safety measures if possible. Thanks!
Y’all need to,get some dogs. Just sayin’.
Mine was broken into last year. I have a wood framed, metal walled shed with a padlock on the door. I also have a locked fence. They hopped the fence, used a crowbar to pry off the lock & took off with several power tools. If they try it again I’ll see how they like a .45 to the chest.
