Anybody hear a boom?
04/14/2014 7:52 PM by John M
From about 7PM:
Just heard and felt loud explosion like noise coming somewhere behind us 33rd & E. Broad. Anybody know anything?
TAGGED: question
Yeah, I heard it too. Looked out all the windows but didn’t see anything. Mysterious boom is mysterious.
Not to be an alarmist but has anyone come up with an answer? Sometimes these booms could be a precursor to earthquakes and there has been a lot of stress on the North American Craton’s western and southern edges lately with the eastern part suspiciously quiet for so much activity. Just be on the alert and prepared! They have said since 2011 another one will hit our area more sooner than later.
Why not blame a methane explosion from secret underground urban pig farming as some of our neighbors are trying to recreate the power source used in MAD MAX BEYOND THUNDERDOME but not following all of the pigcentric safety protocals. That seems just as likely
Last year my wife and I would occasionally hear a single loud boom, late at night, that sounded like atillery – or at least a very high caliber rifle at close range. We heard it on several occasions over the course of a few weeks. I checked around with a few folks in the neighborhood but no-one else seemed to have ever heard it so it remains unexplained. I’ll add that it did NOT sound like small arms fire or firecrackers – much bigger, louder, bassier, sound.
Just heard a really loud boom and flash on Q St, went outside and a tree had fallen into the street at the corner of 32nd and Q. #churchhillboomshappenhere
@7 did the tree hit a transformer and cause the boom sound? If so call 911 and they will route it to the power company and someone will show up.
I’m in the 800 block of 27th and I heard tonights boom. Sounded exactly like a transformer. Even knocked out the cable for a short time.
@9 – yes, the tree caused the explosion and the power company is out there right now fixing it
