Home invasion at 31st and Broad Streets
06/17/2014 8:41 AM by John M
nbc12 is reporting a home invasion at 31st and Broad early this morning:
Officers say the masked men entered the home in the 3100 block of East Broad Street, that’s not far from Chimborazo Park. One person was inside at the home at the time. No one was hurt, and it’s not clear whether the suspects had weapons. But we do know that the suspects demanded money, and took several other things from the home.
That’s terrifying. Lock your doors and set your alarms, be safe out there.
I guess we should add this to the crime watch meeting agenda next week. Seems to be gettin’ a little “hoody” up here lately.
It looks like tonight will be a good night to clean the guns and shotguns….
I wonder if these people had dogs and or an alarm system?
I wish the article had stated whether their door was unlocked or it was a forced entry. Very important detail.
Does anybody know which house it was?
Wondering if they broke in or entered because a door was open.
Be safe, all!
From Sector 111 Lt.Dan Minton:
Robbery/Residence- 06/17/2014, 0117hrs, 3100 block of E. Broad Street. The suspects most likely entered through an unlocked door in the rear of the residence. No weapons were displayed and the victim was not harmed. The 2 suspects took personal belongings of the victim.
Suspects: #1) A 20-30 YOA B/M who is 6’00. He was wearing blue jeans and a black shirt. He had a dark stocking cap on over his head.
Suspect #2) A 20-30 YOA B/M who is 5’00. He was wearing a white t-shirt and shorts. He had on a white bandana. The victim described him as being “very small”.
I live on 31st (1.5 blocks from Broad) and I had some stuff (a metal trellis, wind chimes) stolen from my backyard while we were out of town a few weeks ago. I assume my dog barked off the thieves.
Thanks for the descriptions, L.T.
I’m glad to see no one was hurt. If you don’t have a security system yet it is absolutely vital not only against break ins but also for fire safety as well. It is important to have a system that can be set to Stay arm mode as well. That way your main entrances are monitored even if you are asleep . People are getting bolder with the temperature going up that’s for sure.
Thieves watch for people moving in also and target those houses -three houses on 27
and 28th street between M and Marshall were robbed – back door entry within weeks of the occupants moving in -coincidence????
Neighbors on Princess Anne Ave (Jefferson Park) had their side door busted down while they were home. Happened last week. No one harmed, perps fled when the residents hollered. No porch lights or exterior lights were on during the break in. RPD says light up the night around your home to deter criminal activity.
