A petition to rename “Shockoe Bottom” to “ShoLo Bomba”

Sometime earlier today, someone named “Sho Lo” launched a MoveOn.org petition to rename Shockoe Bottom:
Let’s merge with the 21st Century by renaming the past!
I have been personally affected by the name Shockoe Bottom all my life. It’s so sexually charged and hard to pronounce. Say it a few times really fast. See what I mean? So sexual. So difficult. It’s time to change this. Are you with me, Richmond?!

Come on… this guy must be on crack or in love with J-Lo! Now, if he thinks the old name is sexually charged, try changing it to what they want which hints of Jennifer Lopez and her “bottom”.
If you want to get technical, the original Native American word for Shockoe is Shacquohocan. The bottom is just an “area” of the community that is in a shallow low land area.
