Know of a spot that needs a tree?

The city’s Adopt-a-Tree program gets trees into empty tree wells. Requests are taken through September 1, trees will be put in during the planting season of November 1st through April 15th
TAGGED: trees
This is a great program, but there needs to be a commitment to keep the tree water from neigbors.
How about replacing the tree that they chopped down in front of Chimborazo Elementary? According to the Tree Steward, it is supposed to be replaced.
Our block (700 block of N 22nd) definitely needs some trees. I did four adopt a trees a couple years ago but we need more… however, we seem to lack tree wells on one side of the street. I think that a lot of it has to do with rebricks of the sidewalk in recent years that failed to leave spaces for trees.
I sent an email to the city to address this but never got a response. Any ideas?
Two ideas:
Hicks, Alvin L. – DPW (Alvin.Hicks@richmondgov.com) works for Bobby Vincent – DPW (Bobby.Vincent@richmondgov.com).
Alvin provided me with some very basic, knowledgeable information on brick sidewalks in Church Hill. His boss, Bobby is in charge of streets and sidewalks for the whole City.
One thing you need to do is be persistent – call again, write again and eventually you will have tree wells.
The city is currently spending tons of money to dig up a median on 14th street and creat a tree median….good idea, but costly and in an industrial area where no one will notice
14th St.? Is that somewhere on the Hill?
600 block of N. 32nd Street. Only 1 street tree existing on entire block either side of the road.
