City to recognize Richmond centenarians
Do you have a family member or friend who is 100 years of age or older? The City of Richmond is seeking to identify all Centenarians so that they can be recognized during the Mayor’s Third Annual Centenarian Celebration on Saturday, September 27, 2014.
Individuals will be recognized for their contributions to the community, wealth of experience, and longevity as residents of the City of Richmond. This event is being sponsored by the City of Richmond Office on Aging and Persons with Disabilities.
“The City of Richmond embraces the opportunity to acknowledge those among us who have witnessed the events of the past century. This remarkable group of Richmond residents is deserving of recognition as we can learn so much from their experiences and rich histories,” said Mayor Dwight C. Jones. “We urge all families and neighbors to help us find our oldest residents, those who have reached or will soon be the glorious age of 100.”
If you are aware of a person 100 years of age or older and would like them recognized, please contact Yvette Jones at (804) 646-3054 by September 5, 2014.
This is really cool. An even better result would be an oral history project based off this group.
