The Dog and Pig Show coming to 25th Street
Bird Cox has word of a breakfast and lunch restaurant coming to 25th Street:
When you hear that the folks who’ve been manifesting beautifully crafted monthly “Sunday suppers”— four-course meals with drink pairings and vibrant, seasonal décor — are opening a restaurant, you make plans to be first in line. Another bonus: How can you resist telling everyone that you’re headed to something called The Dog and Pig Show?
The name comes from an early conversation about Chinese astrology in the now-fully-realized romance of Isabel and James Eckrosh (designer and chef, respectively), and it will be up in lights at 314 N. 25th St. in Church Hill very soon. Opening day is slotted for mid-October.
The restaurant will be going into the space that was most recently Souperb, Cucina Catering before that.
That gentleman has a most amazing beard.
OMG. Souperb is gone already?? What a shame. But welcome to Dog and Pig, hope we can keep you afloat
His name is James and as Jaron points out, he has an amazing beard.
There’s an award for best chefs given out called the “James Beard Award.”
Coincidence or good omen?
So sorry that Souperb closed down. Hopefully she can reopen again someday. With that said, excited for another eating opportunity on the Hill!
Soft shell crab benedict?! My gosh I can’t wait! Welcome to the Hill!
This sounds exciting! Hope they will open for supper at some point!
For a moment after reading the title I thought there would be a theater or some kind of performance space opening in CH. But another restaurant is great. The more the better. And the gentleman does indeed have a nice beard, and the lady a beautiful smile.
Anybody else see the giant tortoise being taken for a walk yesterday (8/25) around 5pm in Chimborazo? At least 2 feet long. His/her caretakers had a big wagon/wheelbarrow to cart him around in. He was frolicking in the grass…wish I’d gotten a photo.
I met the tortoise!! He’s an African Spurred Tortoise. He’s 8 years old, which means he’s still a juvenile. He won’t be an adult until he’s 63 years old and he will live until he’s 115-150 years old. His owner has had him since he was a baby, or a hatchling, as baby tortoises are called. Very cool! Definitely made my day, however, I also did not get a pic.
Sounds like we need a photo of the giant tortoise, either here or on a separate thread!
The beard is stellar but the cooking is out of this world. This past Sunday’s dinner was one of the best dinners I’ve ever had. They have this yogurt soup that’s slightly spicy with lamb sausage… soft shelled crap benedict…couldn’t ask for a better menu in CH!!
Cannot wait for the grand opening! I went to the most recent Sunday Supper and it was a culinary journey that everyone would do well to venture into! I was met with a fresh amazing cocktail, then led into their beautiful dining room where we enjoyed lively conversation with great people while savoring coconut curry soup with tender lamb sausage, a skirt steak Asian salad with melt in your mouth beef! It didn’t finish there! Then we devoured tempura soft shell blue crab Benedict with delectable kimchi hollandaise, all while drinking a bright fruity sangria. Dessert was flaky soft sweet popper called a kouign amann topped with bourbon whipped cream and blackberries and peaches paired with delicious French press coffee. Divine! Seriously people, don’t wait idly for the restaurant, go to a Sunday Supper now!
