More abandoned bicycles…
09/26/2014 7:31 AM by John M
Found in the same place as the last three! Clearly this is the work of kleptomaniacs! These (as well as the hello kitty scooter) are now in the Richmond PD property room, if anyone is looking for them.
One of these is a small/child’s bike that has been splattered with red spray paint. The other is nice/in pretty good condition. I imagine someone wants it back.

Bike stealing is rampid on the HIll as there is a ready market for such and/or an ability to move them elsewhere and sell them. On Sat at 1 in the afternoon, my Jamis road bike was stolen from my car rack – right in front of my house.
My bike(s) are road bikes with drop handle bars and not the type used or popular in the local area. Thus these more expensive road bikes are going somewhere to be sold/traded. Apparently they have a network/capability to do such as very thin tires and drop handle bars are not at all popular or used on the Hill as they are inpractical for this enviornment. Question for our police is where are the very expensive road bikes going to be sold and can that process be detected/stopped and there must be a ready market, a network and logistics to support such.
that Hello Kitty scooter is a sweet ride
Somebody is obviously trying to start a bike share. 😉
@1, did you make a police report? Seems like you could have asked the police at that time – or could, if you call now. Just a suggestion.
My brother in law left his bike on my porch and it was stolen. We called the police and they told us they knew where to check. They checked and retrieved his bike. Got it back in about 15 minutes. Always call the police as soon as possible!
this might be where they dump bikes they plan on selling later.
Hey everyone! My Raleigh mountain bike got stolen from my backyard. I imagine they sowed through the lock. If you spot a black Raleigh mountain bike, pretty new, great condition please let me know. Or if it’s sitting in one of those bike stacks please let me know. Thanks
@#1. A friend had a motorcycle stolen from his warehouse off of Bainbridge near Semmes. It reappeared on Craigslist in Fredericksburg. He alerted police there and recovered the motorcycle in good shape. I suggest keepingnan eye on all Craigslists in nearby cities and talk to any local bike shops that buy or trade used equipment.
@7 Barbara Saber, did you make a police report? Sounds like the police are doing pretty well in recovery of bikes, but you have to make a report! Good luck!
I did! Fingers crossed!
One of these bikes (the blue one), looks a great deal like mine, which was stolen sometime in the past week or two.
Which PD has them, and how should I go about trying to retrieve it?
