Poe’s Richmond Walking Tour

Edgar Allan Poe spent more time in Richmond than any other city. With your costumed guide, explore the sites that carry the most memory for him, including his marriage site, the site of the Southern Literary Messenger, his mother’s grave, and the house where he rekindled romance with his first love on the eve of his untimely death.

City Council Formal Meeting

Every 2nd and 4th Mon – Responsible for deciding official Council action, which includes discussing, adopting, rejecting, and amending laws and approving the budget. Formal meetings include a time for pubic comment and are televised live on the local PBS station and are replayed in Richmond on Government Access Channel 17, beginning at Noon and 7:00 p.m. daily.

Kickin’ Chicken Wingfest

A celebration of all-things chicken wings! They’ll come flavored hot, mild, sweet, spicy, teriyaki, buffalo, Asian, Thai and …. more ways than we have space to share. Plus live, local music, shopping, cold beverages and much more! The event is free to attend. Food and beverages available for purchase.

As with all the events at the 17th Street Farmers’ Market we will deliver local restaurants and food trucks, live music, local craft beer from Center of the Universe (including exclusive, limited release beers during the event), and an expanded craft and fresh foods market. To spice things up we will be offering three exciting new contests at this event:

• Richmond’s Best Wings contest that is open to Richmond-based restaurants, food trucks and caterers. The winner will be determined by a blind taste testing by a panel of judges.

• People’s Choice Award contest open to event attendee voting.

• Chicken Wing Eating Competition… need we say more?

Musical entertainment will be provided by Sweet Justice, The Honky Tonk Experience, and the Thomas Jefferson High School Marching Band.

All proceeds benefit the Enrichmond Foundation- Serving Richmond’s people, parks, and public spaces for 24 years.
