Letter alleges violent man with a weapon is stalking Shockoe
Phillip forwarded a letter being distributed around Shockoe Bottom which alleges that “a violent man with a weapon” has been mugging people in the Shockoe area, with several victims being sent to the hospital.
The Richmond Police Department’s Lt.Wyatt (Sector 112) provides some context:
In the last week, there have been 2 incidents in the area of 20th/ E. Franklin, with the most recent taking place last night around 930pm. Last night involved the attempted robbery of two individuals and the assault of a “good Samaritan” who tried to intervene. Two victims were taken to MCV with lacerations to the head. The basic suspect description of the offender is a black male, approx. 25-35 years of age. 5’6″- 5’8″, medium build.
Our detectives are working diligently […] We are altering our directed patrols to increase visibility and presence in the Franklin St. Corridor.
We would remind citizens to always be aware of their surroundings when walking, especially at night. Also, please call 911 to report any suspicious activity or individuals.

i hope this dumb POS gets caught ASAP. Too much violence in Richmond recently…
i was involved in both the muggings, i can assure you he is not a cop.
Can we get the open carry nuts to do their walks at a time when it might be helpful? I’d suggest 9-11 shifts around the Bottom until this asshole is caught.
Guys,
please pass along this info to anyone you know who lives or frequents the Bottom. I was a victim to one and a witness to another, this guy is not messing around. They’ve happened at 11pm and 9pm. One of the victims was a good samaritan who intervened, and got pretty messed up. The mugger was chasing one of his targets down a lit street almost all the way to Main Street, he has no qualms and he’s escalating.
Please, tell your friends, neighbors, landlords, whoever- stay off of 20th street at night until this guy is caught.
