Better Housing Coalition buys Citadel of Hope
10/28/2014 12:01 PM by John M
As had been long rumored, the building at 2230 Venable Street known as the Citadel of Hope (once part of the portfolio of vacant buildings and lots connected to the Temple of Judah) has been bought by Richmond Affordable Housing (AKA Better Housing Coalition).
The building was constructed in 1923 as the House of Happiness, a community center, by The City Circle of the Baptist Woman’s Missionary Union.
Glad it will finally become something again.
BHC’s track record of providing affordable housing and compatible development in the larger Church Hill neighborhood is impeccable. The redevelopment of this block is going to be “transformational” in all the positive ways that word has meaning.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for continuing to invest in our neighborhood!
FANTASTIC news!!!
Fantastic news. This rehab will have a significant impact on the Venable gateway.
