November/December newsletter from the Church Hill Association
11/07/2014 7:28 AM by John M
The November/December newsletter from the Church Hill Association (PDF) is out on doorsteps and the usual spots around the neighborhood.
Includes: a call for submissions, a closing letter from CHA president Geoffrey Cooper, 2015 Church Hill Association Board Slate, the 50Th Anniversary Holiday Festival, call for Church Hill Festival Carolers, Real Estate Market News by Jeanne Bridgforth, Bellevue News, part 2 of Eric Huffstutler’s history of Evergreen Cemetery, July & September Membership Meeting minutes, August & September Board Meeting minutes, Blood Drive at Bellevue Elementary School on 11/18, and more.
The next CHA Membership Meeting will be Tuesday, November 18, 6:00 pm at St. John’s Church Parish Hall.
I was told the newsletter was rushed to the printers this month so please excuse the lack of photos or the odd broken pattern of the Evergreen Cemetery article. It doesn’t diminish the content or the seriousness of the situation.
After the article was submitted I was contacted by a VFH affiliate at William & Mary called the: Remembering Slavery, Resistance, and Freedom Project. They handle the cemetery aspect for VFH. I am awaiting a reply to an lengthy email I submitted to them about the history of the cemeteries and their current condition.
The “call for submissions” was once again my request to ask readers for ideas for the next article(s) published. Since this is a double issue, I had November off so this gives everyone plenty of time to let me know by December ideas for January’s article.
Thanks.
Eric
Contrary to note in newsletter I was NOT nominated to run fir the Board. I was, instead, on the nominating committee. So to those of you expressing support please know I am grateful but have not the time nor temperament for such!
