Three robbed on Marshall Street
11/12/2014 2:48 PM by John M
From Sector 111’s Lt.Sayles:
On November 7th at approximately 10:35 pm, three victims were robbed in the 2900 block of East Marshall Street.
Two BM suspects approached the victims and robbed them of cell phones, wallets, and a coat.
There were no injuries to the victims and the suspects fled on foot. Detectives are working hard and following leads at this time.
The suspect descriptions are as follows:
Suspect 1. BM approx. 5’8 and 19 – 22 years of age and armed with a handgun
Suspect 2. BM approx.. 5’9 and 19 – 22 years of age.
Citizens are asked to be mindful and aware of their surroundings when walking at night.
Travel in groups if at all possible and call the police immediately if you see something suspicious.
This needs to STOP! It is unacceptable that this is happening in front of our homes!
I frequently walk my dogs in that area around that time. Last night I walked a little earlier, or it could have been me. Been very seriously considering carrying a firearm after seeing reports like these. If anybody sees a post about two dead BMs or one dead WM, it might be me!
Well that sucks!
And this may be totally a coincidence, but I have seen two BMs either sitting on the stairs near the entrance to the dog park area or walking up from that area. Last night was one of those occasions. This was probably around 9ish.
@Emily – bloody mary? brides maid?
I understand humor can be a coping me charismatic but we have traumatized victims that are our neighbors. I hope they’re coping well and little hardship suffered.
Bowel Movement!

Do these cellphones not have some sort of tracking feature… I know if anyone stole mine, they wouldn’t really be able to do anything with it, except maybe sell it for parts.
1. The description of these two individuals leaves a lot to desire. It would be nice to know some additional details. 2. Why are we finding out so little information after 5 days? That’s disconcerting to say the least. 3. Why is there not an increased police presence with so many thefts, robberies and other crimes being reported in the recent weeks?
There is a Church Hill neighborhood watch meeting tomorrow at the Urban Farmhouse at 7:30, im going to try and make it, might be worth going to….
This is really sad… we walked around there yesterday during the day, and it seemed like such a nice area.
#14 – It IS a nice area. Bad stuff can and does happen in nice areas. We all need to be vigilant and I am especially bad about walking my dogs or riding my bike after dark and thinking its fine. Attending the Neighborhood Watch meeting tomorrow night certainly can’t hurt.
I agree that this is very sad…it seems just when you feel the area is becoming for the most part safe something like this happens. It might seem an exaggeration but a story like this can keep families and businesses from moving to the area, or drive out ones that are here already. It’s something I know I wrestle with as my wife and I are starting our family…whether or not we should stay, because it only takes one incident like this to change your life. You should be able to walk in front of your house at 10:30pm for f@#$ sake…
#12, I wondered the same thing. Why did it take 5 days for this to pop up here? I know this site isn’t really a news site, but I’m sure it was posted as soon as it was known.
Two short, young black guys. Lemme guess, they had dark hair and brown eyes, right? How about hair length, facial hair, something!
@12 and @19, the victims may not have noticed much, when someone is holding a gun on you it kind of makes it hard to concentrate on descriptions. I happen to know two people who were held up earlier this summer and they couldn’t give much info. either. It was dark, they were youngish black males…and whatever the robbers were wearing, they probably aren’t wearing now.
Timely and efficient neighborhood communication is one thing that is hoped to be improved on with the neighborhood watch and it’s Facebook page. Hopefully we can work together as a community and help prevent/deter incidents like these from happening!
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if there a Neighborhood watch group for Shockoe Slip?
Is anyone else hearing about another mugging on that block at about 5:30pm today?
