Dead beagle found at Libby monument

11/15/2014 9:40 AM by

From Paul:

A neighbor and I made a grisly discovery in Libby Hill Park this morning while walking our dogs. Someone had evidently discarded the body of dog in a garbage bag in the bushes beside the monument roundabout.

The dog, a slender tricolor beagle with no collar, had suffered trauma to the face and head. We did not think to look to see if it was male or female.

I’m reporting it to you in case one of your readers might have seen the individuals that illegally discarded the body, or may be missing an animal that fits this description.

While it was most likely hit by a car in an isolated incident, there is also the possibility that there is some more sinister explanation for the animal’s injuries, and your readers should be aware of this event in case a pattern subsequently develops.

A report was made to the Richmond City Police non-emergency number and
to Richmond Animal Control.
