Church Hill was recently featured in the New York Times as a desirable, historical neighborhood to eat and shop your way through. The area has definitely sprung up in the past few years, but there’s still one thing missing… the shopping. However, there is a hidden vintage antiques and furniture force that you may want to put on your list.
Era Vintage, nestled in a tiny storefront on Marshall and 27th, might be the best place in town for some great home-decor finds.

These small one room storefronts built in 1922, often go unnoticed since they sit next to basically an abandoned building and an auto auction house storage lot. They once housed many businesses such as auto parts, dry cleaners, shoe repair and appliance sales. They have seen some seedy activity over the past 20+ years so what comes with the property is unfortunately a reputation. But lets hope “Era Vintage” and those like them can make a go of their presence there as the area is turning around big time. Too bad they have the same business hours as the working public and not open late in the evenings. Or possibly offer a worker friendly operating hour window such as 12:00-9:00 PM.
I have read the article, seen their Facebook page, and Diana Mathews seems to be serious about this venture and in for the long haul.
