Phaup Street shooting victim dies in hospital

The Richmond Police Department announced today that, Walter M. Robinson III, 23, of the 1900 block of Raven Street, shooting victim from last week’s shooting on Phaup Street, has died.

At approximately 5:25 PM, Tuesday, January 27, officers received a call for a person down at the intersection of Phaup and North 21st streets. Officers arrived on scene and found Robinson suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, January 31.

This is the first homicide on Richmond of 2015, and also the first of the year for the East End. Last year Richmond had seen 3 killings at this time, and one of the East End’s only four murders of 2014 had taken place.
