Thefts from shed, RV today (UPDATE)

Today, February 9 around 11:30 am, there was a burglary to a detached garage/workshop on the 600 block of 27th Street. Entry was gained through the locked door possibly by use of a crowbar.
The suspect is described as a black male in his mid-twenties, with medium complexion and thin build. He was wearing a shiny black leather jacket, jeans and a close fitting knitted cap.
A Stihl chainsaw was stolen, and the suspect was also carrying a branded toolkit (maybe DeWalt) and a shoulder bag. He took off down the back alley on foot after he was discovered by a person in the house.
In addition, there was a theft from an RV in the alley behind the 100 block of 29th Street. Entry was gained through a locked window over the weekend. Undisclosed items were taken.
If you see anything suspicious, do not hesitate to call 9-1-1. We all have eyes on the neighborhood and any information we can provide the police will help stop these crimes.

A reader sent in video of what appears to be the shed B&E suspect carrying the chainsaw:
The yard is too open. Chain (attached) items together making it harder to carry….too much open space (I suggest a fence). People are going to steal, when you have things outside of your home, stand back and look to see if someone could easily come and take it.
The Path of least resistance is tempting for criminals. Too bad CAR or the city wouldnt allow concrete perimeter walls the barbed wire on the top.
Its the rules of the hood, if you can see it or get to it, its fair game for the taking! Sad but true
I don’t believe this video was taken at the place of the robbery, but as he was walking through the alleyway towards whatever destination he was going. We live in the alleys across the way and people walk through them all the time. Not saying this is acceptable to leave things “unchained” but those of us with unfenced yards actually tend to have less burglary as more people can see you vs. a full privacy fence that they easily hop or open to get in and shield them. I think as a neighborhood we need to be more vigilant in making sure the police are patrolling regularly and at all hours. I haven’t seen a patrol car in CH in weeks even with the increase in window breakage. As a community we need to get them to increase patrols, including down alley ways.

Also if entry was gained using a crowbar then it wasn’t out in the open….illegally taking belonging you didn’t purchase is illegal either way, don’t decriminalize it by thinking it wasn’t “locked” up so it was an easy target. They did the right thing by calling police and I hope they catch this guy.
I want to thank the person who posted the video of chainsaw thief strolling thru their yard. I want a similar camera for my yard! The police have shown pictures of suspects and my sitter has IDd one of the guys! Still hoping to get my tool back but I know its a long shot. I put blue and yellow paint on my tools.
