New category, online voting for 2015 Golden Hammer Awards
The Golden Hammer Awards are back for 2015 with a new regional geography, a new category, and online voting open to the public. Do you know of a project that should be nominated?
The Golden Hammer Awards are a celebration and recognition of thoughtful revitalization of Greater Richmond’s neighborhoods. Better Housing Coalition is looking for nominations from across the Greater Richmond area in 4 categories this year: residential, adaptive reuse, new construction and community placemaking.
We’re celebrating our 25th anniversary this year in a big way, and the Golden Hammers are a part of it. On May 21, 2015 the Golden Hammer Awards will be presented at our TransformRVA event at the Omni Hotel. Save the date!

We are casting a wide net and we need your help – we want to reach the widest, most inclusive audience possible: if you’ve seen a neighborhood revitalization project in Greater Richmond (Richmond, Henrico, Chesterfield or Hanover) that you think deserves to win a coveted Golden Hammer, jot down the address, snap a photo and send us an e-mail. We’ll reach out to the project partners and ask them to submit!
Contact David Herring at (804)644-0546 x110 or d.herring@betterhousingcoalition.org with questions about the nomination and voting process.
Looking forward to this event and I will definitely be nominating at least one magnificent Church Hill renovation!
Sometimes CHPN.net serves as a forum for expressing dissatisfaction with development that goes on in the neighborhood (and that’s okay) but this is a great opportunity to celebrate and share with each other the renovations and infills that we are most proud of!!!
A lot of great work out there since the last Golden Hammer awards back in the fall of 2013.
Thanks for picking this up, John! BHC is accepting online applications this year – no more paper application and CD shlepping! Finalists’ projects will be posted on our website for a public voting phase so we’ll be getting the word out on that as soon as we are able.
