Can I propose that this thread not disintegrate into complaining about the bike race? It is a great thing for our city and complaining will not change a thing. This is ample notice for us to plan our travel time and way. I am very excited about this!!!
^Hear, hear! This will be great!
Agree wholeheartedly with you, Liz! No need for complaints and whining.
Let us not forget that we can always rent out our homes that weekend and take a lovely vacation on the profits!
Thanks Liz. Lots of time to adjust. Ride your bike to work, for example. You might find you like it. I’m very happy that the races will be in RVA. It’s agreat for the city.
Not complaining, I’ll probably just work from home for a week or so. But Juliellen, please remember not everyone is able to ride bikes to work. Some of us are not physically able do to injuries/age/whatever, or are too scared about getting killed by a car. Or unfortunately don’t get to work downtown. I really hate it when people are like – oh just walk there! Bike there! Not all of us are able to.
I’m just going to post up in my house for a week. Thankfully VCU @ monroe park will be closed. I think most work places in the city will be very understanding about commute times and such.
