Richmond Rides launches campaign for new bicycles
Church Hill-based bicycle tour company Richmond Rides has launched an Indiegogo campaign to help get some new bicycles:
We’ve spent the past year crafting an innovative bike tour in the neighborhood of Church Hill in historic Richmond, VA. We think Biking is the best way to see a city and we are excited to bring bike tours to Richmond.
The past 6 months we’ve been running BYOB (bring your own bike) tours that combine history, food, and biking. We are currently the #3 activity in Richmond on TripAdvisor! Tourists and natives want to come on the tour and we are ready to roll out the tours but we need the bikes! We are raising funds to buy a fleet of 20 bikes.
The perks for this campaign should make this a tempting opportunity to help out: $40 gets you a tour of Church Hill on the new bikes, and $70 gets you two tour tickets. You can name a bike (and get 20 tour tickets) for $500.

This is something I have had a question about and seeking an answer for. When I was a kid, we were required to register our bicycles with the police department and received a license plate to attach to it, usually under the seat. When were these requirements dismissed?
Also on another note, it was my understanding at one time “any” motorized vehicle required registration and plates – this includes mopeds, Vespas, etc. It looks like a bill was passed starting last year clarifying that that owners are required to carry a photo ID and register them with the DMV. So, why am I still seeing most all unregistered and being driven like a bicycle? They are also supposed to follow the same rules of the road a motorcycle has to do.
