03/20/2015 8:38 AM by John M
VCU urban planning graduate students are working alongside students from Armstrong High School’s GroundworkRVA Green Team to host a community workshop on Tuesday, March 31st to get community feedback on the future of the vacant triangle at 25th & Venable Streets.
Everyone is encouraged to come out to provide your opinions and feedback on this exciting project.
The event will take place at the Family Resource Center (2405 Jefferson Avenue) on March 31 from 5:30-7:00 PM. Light food and childcare will be provided.

A quirky wedge shaped building would be nice…
A donut shop! No offense intended RPD.
What happened to the proposed plans for 25th & Venable st on Eastendvision.org these plans would be amazing and really enhance the community. It seems like we’re moving further away from those proposals. But I agree a donut shop would be awesome!
A couple fence posts and a trip to the hardware store ,ya got the new East end farmers market..
Just curious is the owner a part of the discussion?
I’m w/ #2 & 7.
Open, park-like green space with a couple big shade trees and benches would be awesome. Part of the space could accommodate a variety of uses such as a grower’s market, performance space, mini-festivals, health fairs, etc.
We are about to loose the green space and tall shade trees at 24th & Cedar Streets to commercial/residential space.
If the owner doesn’t want to construct a building here, let it go green–and provide a natural respite for the 25th street, it’ll provide oxygen and cool shade during the hot summer months.
The success of the “Jefferson Avenue Pocket Park” project should reinforce the value of going green in a busy commercial corridor.
A Farmers Market.
Speaking of which, whatever happened to the Farmers Market at Chimbarazo that was supposed to happen last year but then was put off because a lack of time to properly plan it? It’s been a year and you would think something could have been organized by now.
Or, was it all just a big ole tease?
Yes I’m curious if the owners are part of this discussion. Any idea John?
