2015 VCU Wellness Block Party

March 21st is the 8th annual student run VCU Wellness Block Party from 1:00 – 5:00 pm at Armstrong High School, 2300 Cool Lane in Richmond.
This year the students are partnering with the 7th District’s Healthy U and Camp Diva’s Date with Dad weekend. There will be guests like Black Thought from the Roots and Richmond’s own Chad Coleman from the Wire and the Walking Dead.
It’s going to be a fun day. 106.5 The Beat will be broadcasting live. Sports Backers is setting up a fun obstacle course. Nutzy and Rodney the Ram will be there handing out high fives. Plus, lunch will be provided. We have lots of door prizes like an iPad mini, Shaka Smart signed basketball, and tickets to the Flying Squirrels.
Most importantly, there will be wellness resources from over 75 different organizations related to: family resources, health insurance, clinic, mental health, housing, nutrition, legal aid, and education.
There will also be free general health screenings, dental services, STI/HIV screenings, and pharmacists to answer any questions you have. So, bring a list of your prescriptions.

3rd Annual David Tate Urban Forestry Service Day at Libby Hill

Calling all Arborists, Tree Stewards, Master Naturalists, Tree Huggers, residents of Church Hill, and friends of Dave!
Please join together on March 21st, 2015 from 8:30am – 1pm at 2801 E Franklin St in Richmond to work in the memory of Dave on trees that need help, to perform tree maintenance at all skill levels to help green the area for the upcoming bike race, and have a good time improving the urban forest.

Dash for Dads 5K

Special Celebrity Guests: Actor Chad L. Coleman and Black Thought of The Roots. The entire family/community is encouraged to walk/run together to show support for fathers everywhere, then attend a free health fair. Suggested donation of $5 benefits the CAMP DIVA Summer Retreat Scholarship fund. Wearing Date With Dad t-shirts is encouraged, but not required.

Union Hill and Jefferson Park Community Cleanup

Volunteers of all ages are invited to join the Jefferson Park and Union Hill Community Cleanup. Gloves, pickers, and bags will be provided to assist with trash cleanup.
