Roaring Pines setting up shop on Venable Street
A Richmond BizSense profile on UrbanCore Development drops this nugget about their commercial space recently for rent on Venable Street:
One of those projects includes renovating the 4,000-square-foot building at 2025 Venable St. in Church Hill. UrbanCore will create a 1,400-square-foot commercial space downstairs and three 800-square-foot apartment units above.

Drew Dayberry of Roaringpines.com, a retailer of American manufactured products, will set up shop in the space by this June. Beach said it will be designed as a 1950s general store.
Roaring Pines is self-described as an “American Merchant And Manufacturing Advocate”, and currently offer online sales of goods such as brooms, balsa airplanes, journals, frisbees, extension cords, dustpans, and more.
The storefront is catty-corner from the former Runway Couture, who apparently ran into zoning issues offering retail at that commercial corner location.
And Now for Something Completely Different: A craft soda bar is coming to Church Hill

It sounds fantastic but I am cautiously optimistic ref these type deals. Owners of building where Mosby Mart is located initially proclaimed they were building townhouses, then apts and last but not lease they ran into financial problems and decided to “temporarily” lease the property as a much not needed convenience store thus the establishment of the not loved Mosby Mart.
Those guys were entirely clueless. UrbanCore seems *way* more in touch with what’s going on up here.
John is right…. Urban Core has had a decent foothold in the area for years prior to these upcoming projects.

@3 good memory–the owner/developer of the lots next to and including the Mosby Mart was–wait for it– Joshua Builder.
He may still come back to Mosby Street after he gets done with the Robinson Theatre Apartments next to the post office.
@urbngrilla – you’re wrong. The 715 Mosby project aka Mosby Mart was Dennis Forte, and if I recollect a partner/family member from out of town

@ 8 whelp, JB met with a bunch of the neighbors out on that site a few years b/c he was somehow involved in the project. But your right, cant find a paper trail w/ his name on it. c’est la vie
Whatever happened to this soda and broom shop? Where the hell am I supposed to get my sodas and brooms?!
Yeah, whatever happened to this project??
I’ve been steady watching the renovation of the building on Venable, I think that has just taken longer than expected. Looks like they’re doing good work, excited to see’em finished.
