The Richmond Police Department is committed to making Richmond a safer community and strives to continue to strengthen the working relationship between the community and the members of the Richmond Police Department. Our goal with this initiative is to enhance our level of customer service. Through People Oriented Policing, together, we will rid our neighborhoods of criminal elements, educate our youth and address environmental issues within the community.

On April 15, 2015, The Richmond Police Department will initiate its People Oriented Policing Initiative in the Mosby Court Public Housing Community. The initiative will have several facets that all share the common goal to make our community a safer place to live.

Mosby Court is comprised of 452 units with an average occupancy of 9.4 years, and currently holds a 17% reduction in Major Crime. Through hard work and determination community members in Mosby played a big role in the 26% reduction in Major Crime during the 2014 reporting period.

The goals of the Richmond Police Department over the next 45 days is to enhance the public’s trust, pride, awareness and desire to make the community a safer place to live by decreasing Major Crime from 11 to 7 for a 36% decrease.
