Car windows busted on O Street
04/10/2015 8:25 PM by John M
From Adam on 26th Street:
A number of cars on O St. between 26th and 27th busted windows where teens have jumped into the windows and busted them. The cars look like someone has hit a person!
I am assuming that the teens aren involved because there’s been a lot of foot traffic to the George Mason Park playground since the weather has warmed up.
Anybody else in the area been vandalized?

Adam did you or anyone call the police? Even after the event? They need to know! Thanks!
I’ve called the cops a few times when a big group of teens on O and 24th kept coming by my car and peering in the windows. I just happened to see them at 1 AM.
Haven’t y’all heard? This is just teens playing “put em in a coffin”. YouTube has made this game go viral!!

The other night my husband and I were in the kitchen when we hurt loud crashing on metal outside the front of the house. Turns out someone threw rocks at our house. We live on P st between 26th and 27th.
My windshield got smashed, too. We’re north of Venable at Carrington and Pink. It happened Thursday night. Hard to tell how they did it.
Somebody on that block needs to get a Dropcam
As I stated in my post on 4/8 regarding convertible tops being slashed, I’ve had some recent run-in’s with groups of male & female teens. I have watched them throw rocks at my house in broad daylight. Interestingly enough, once I caught up with them, one of the teens told the other (guilty party) to apologize. It’s likely a mix of peer pressure and (yes) mob mentality that’s helping to lead to these kinds of acts. With the addition of social media’s motivation, the stage is well set for trouble. Please report suspicious activity by calling *911*, NOT the non-emergency #. Again there is an 11:00 Curfew for teens, so CALL if you see them out after that…*ESPECIALLY* in large groups. Summer’s just ’round the corner, so we’re going to have to be more vigilant and proactive to fight this kind of behavior.

And here is where mark holmberg did a run on it in January of this year:

The windshields and hoods are def this game with yes is usually influenced by a mob mentality- look at the first video!
I’m just old enough to be able to say that “when I was young”, damaging someone’s car willfully could lead equal or worse damage to the perpetrator. NOT at all encouraging &/or recommending you “reverse” the game on the perp, but eventually they’re going to jump on the wrong hood. Money’s tight these days, (as always), and people may react passionately (to) malicious damage to their vehicle.
Kids throwing rocks at cars yesterday, I followed them to the apartment building at 905 n 26th but then I lost them. This apartment building is right by all the damaged vehicles.
Our windshield was stomped-in, too. Sadly, we could not afford to fix it at this time, so we had to get rid of it. Our neighbors kept complaining about it sitting (and it has been since someone popped the steering column a while back). We did have a neighbor confirm that it was teens that did it.
If we get cameras that face the street, is it legal to post photos/videos to bring light to these situations?
There is a facebook page where they still have footage up of kids doing things, so im pretty sure it is legal.

Im sure they will post it, john m may even do it also
Probably safe to assume “put em in a coffin” game cost me a deductible and insurance claim back in December to repair a mysterious dent in the hood of my car. Very frustrating.
