VHDA Homeownership Education Program
Saturday, April 18th from 10:00-4:00pm
Virginia Housing Development Authority’s FREE Homeownership Education Program teaches future homeowners how to prepare a spending plan, understand credit reports and credit issues, qualifying for a mortgage loan, choosing the right home and more. Participants receive a certificate upon completion of the course. To register, please call Freda Bolling at (804)225-0506, press 1.

Hepatitis Help – Knowledge is Power
Wednesday, April 29th 2:00-4:00pm
Fan Free Clinic educators are coming to the East End Library. Topics will include: overview of the liver and it’s functions, Hepatitis A/B/C, distinguishing the differences between them, symptoms of hepatitis, risk factors for Hepatitis B/C, hepatitis testing and treatment resources. Free and open to all.

HIV – Know Your Status
Thursday, April 30th from 2:00-5:00pm
Fan Free Clinic staff will provide free HIV rapid (20-minute) antibody testing using an oral swab. Results will be provided in writing. Lots of information and freebies will be available. Open to all.

Crafternoons!
Wednesday, May 6th from 3:00-4:00
Mother’s Day craft – Children ages 6 and up are invited to drop in and make a craft of their choice to take home. Children under 10 should attend with an adult who can assist them.

Need a little one-on-one help using a computer? One of our friendly volunteers would be happy to answer basic computer and internet questions.

Women Empowerment Support Group

Women Empowerment Support Group (GEMS) – Are you looking for a support group where you can network and engage in insightful conversation amongst a variety of women? Well, look no further! Come join Requel Mckeever in her new Women Empowerment support group, The GEMS. We will have discussions focusing on parenting, child development, education, health and wellness, nutrition, entrepreneurship, time management, money management, job readiness, career building and a range of interesting topics. The mission is to empower and inspire each other as we journey through womanhood. Every woman is a GEM. Call the Library at 646-4474 to register.

Self-Defense For Women With Master Instructor William Nelson
May 13th and 30th
Mr. Nelson will introduce us to the basics of martial arts philosophy that focuses on physical, mental, and emotional aspects of the training. This class is FREE and open to the public.
