Sukha Yoga: moving to Broad, May class schedule
From Rachel at Sukha Yoga:
It’s going to be an exciting summer with a whole new perspective. Literally. Sukha Yoga is moving! Starting June 1, I’ll be teaching right down the hill at 18th & Broad in the new Restore-PT studio. It’s only a half mile away from the current space and it means more room, drop-ins and…drum roll…less furniture moving!
I have a bunch of updates this month about the move, May classes and a seminar series starting in June that I get to be a part of and you can come to free. Please get in touch if you have any questions and hope to see you soon.

MAY SCHEDULE calendar
VINYASA FLOW
Mondays, 6:00-7:15 p.m.
Wednesday classes will resume in June!
A flowing class that links breath and movement through a series of sun salutations and asana. Some yoga experience helps, but modifications are offered so everyone can work at a comfortable level.
CHILL-ASANA
Saturday May 9, 9:30-10:45 a.m.
Slow down! You move too fast! Balance a busy life with this slow-moving class where you’ll learn meditation and breathing techniques. Also great for people with physical limitations. Some inspiration: Meditation helps your immune system do its job.

NEW SPACE & OPEN HOUSE
211A N. 18th St. / May 29, 4-7 p.m.
The new studio space is lovely, and it’s a little bigger too, which means we can now do drop-ins. (Though if you want to reserve a spot and get the paid-in-advance discount, I’ll still take reservations.) To celebrate this transition, Restore-PT is hosting an Open House on May 29, 4-7 p.m. I’ll be there and so will Wine and Beer and Snacks. RSVP: 804-644-1221
Directions to space: Go west down Broad St. away from Church Hill. Take a left into the alley next to the dry cleaners (right before you get to McDonald’s and the stop light at 18th Street). Take second right into parking lot at the second set of buildings (If you’re driving: POTHOLE ALERT!). We are on the right on the second floor above RVA Pilates (look for garage doors). You can also access the building from Grace St.
4 FRIDAYS SEMINARS
Fridays this summer, 3-5 p.m., FREE

INDIVIDUAL YOGA & PRIVATE PARTIES
My studio or yours? You name it!
New to yoga? Need some extra attention? Worried that your “doing it wrong”? Private sessions are great for getting into a new yoga groove and/or clearing up burning questions about alignment, sun salutations and whatever else is on your mind. If one-on-one is too, well, ONE-ON-ONE, grab some friends and book a private group session. These can be stand alone or in conjunction with bridal showers, girls weekends, guys weekends etc. etc.
For rates and scheduling, email sukhayogarva@gmail.com or call 202-549-0171.
1 POSE : 1 MINUTE
Malasana / Garland Pose a.k.a. Squat
This low-slung asana can be intimidating to those with knees issues. However, Malasana can be modified to accommodate most bodies. Instead of a low squat, don’t bend your knees as much. Other modifications: set your heels on a rolled blanket or foam roller; sit on a block, or two or three—or a chair; lean against a wall; hang on to a counter (or something else sturdy that won’t move from your weight). If nothing works, happy baby is quite a nice alternative.
