Proposed North 29th Bike-Walk Street would provide safe north/south corridor

05/04/2015 12:26 PM by

The North 29th Bike-Walk Street is being proposed by East End Connects as means to connect the south end of Church Hill to the north end of the area to create a comfortable shared environment for people of all ages and abilities who walk and bike for transportation.

Phase one of the proposal would run from Libby Hill Park north on North 29th Street, run between George Mason Elementary and the water tower, and continue north across Nine Mile Road to Woodville Elementary, and on to Creighton Court. Future phases would tie in the Virginia Capital Trail at the south end and Armstrong High School and the new mountain bike skills course to the north.

Other destinations that the Bike-Walk Street would connect to either directly or using quiet neighborhood streets as spur connections include Chimborazo Elementary, Chimborazo Park, the Robinson Theater, Blue Sky Fund, Bon Secours Community Hospital, and a number of businesses and churches along the way.
