Hundreds turn out for anti-violence rally in Mosby
Hundreds of people filled the square off of Redd Street yesterday evening, gathered together to protest community violence near the spot where Ra’Keem Adkins was shot and killed last Thursday.
Organized by Charles Willis and J.J. Minor, the event brought out a wide swath of the area’s elected officials and faith leaders, and a crowd of Mosby residents to march from MLK Middle School to the intersection of Redd and Coalter Streets.
Delegate Delores McQuinn, with a mix of outrage and weariness, gave perhaps the most pointed speech of her’s that I’ve witnessed. She said essentially that “black lives matter, not just when it is the police, but when it is our young men doing the killing, too”, and saying that if the situation were reversed and this many young black men had been killed by whites there would be people in the streets every day.
I wasn’t able to stay for all of the speakers or to see Young Prince Charles.
Beautiful event
Can’t understand why my earlier remark was never published. A little too “PC”, eh CHPN.NET?
