The Libby Terrace Fairy Village
05/26/2015 2:31 PM by John M
So it turns out that Libby Terrace has it’s own Fairy Village, though one with a difference flavor of whimsy than the more classic Grace Street Fairy Village.
Put up by Martha Kent last year, the ever-changing wee village is intended as a delight for the young and the young at heart. With an audience of Care Bears watching over zoo animals, characters from the Wizard of Oz, a parade of Disney princesses, Cookie Monster, and of course a tiny house, the colorful tableau invites kids to play and re-arrange.

OMG. I love it! How about a fairy village on every block!
What, no Ewoks?
I think this is adorabe! I bet the children do too!!
Aw, so sweet! FAIRY VILLAGES FOR EVERYONE!
I believe!
So glad neither of these eyesore are NOT on my block. Totally inappropriate in a historic district where streetscapes should compliment the architecture, not imitate a suburban playground.
My 6-year old and 3-year old nieces squeal with delight when I bring them to see both fairy villages. 🙂
Church Hill is being overrun by fairies!
Boo hiss #6! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. You’re entitled to your opinion but I suspect you’re in the minority where the fairy villages are concerned.
Bill2 @6
Based on your logic,
1 all cars should be banned from a historic district
2 no satalite saucers
3 no electricity, no wiring
4 anyone living in the historic district has to wear period
clothing
5 porch furniture would have to be “authentic”
6 the playground equipment in Chimbarozo playground
would have to be removed, those bright colors !
7 no trash pickup, no recycling
etc. etc. etc.
WE LIVE in a historic district in 2015!!
You might be better suited to live in historic Willamsburgh than Church Hill.
Just to distance myself from a similarly-named commenter, I think these are awesome. Stuff like this is what makes Church Hill what it is. Embrace the weird & silly!
I hear you 11/Bill 3. These have inspired me to design one between my house and Central Montessori. Shopping supplies. Eventually these old world curmudgeons will die off. But I’ll find a troll doll to represent them in my village.
Ugg. Here we go again. The troll has resurface http://seeclickfix.com/issues/1672723?poi_token=52fc2413a5dce442b89ce6ea3a0715e7e4a9efdd&utm_campaign=poi-notice-email&utm_content=issue-card-header&utm_medium=email&utm_source=poi-email&utm_term=issue-summary
good gosh, man. people are just the worst.
Bill2, it seems like it would be difficult to make the look of the neighborhood architecturally uniform when we have one of the most architecturally diverse neighborhoods in the city.
PS – if neither of the village are NOT on your block it means that both are on your block. Double negatives ftw.
@6–they see me trollin’, they hatin’ … seriously, if you really believed that the Fairy Gardens were a blight upon Church Hill you’d proudly stand out and use your real name and address AND go on all the local news channels to proclaim your stance.
No?
Then you’re just a bored troll hiding behind your keyboard trying to stir up trouble. Seriously, you have no other hobbies?
PS–have I paid you enough attention? HAVE WE ALL PAID YOU ENOUGH ATTENTION?
Trish, Thank you for posting what you did!! I couldn’ t agree with you more. This self appointed vigilanti does not have the guts to identify themselves and on top of that “neither of these eyesores are on my block”!
So Mr/Ms gutless, STAY OFF OUR BLOCKS!!!!
@ jean mcdaniel, #10– I, for one, would gladly lobby for point #4! 😉 May make life more interesting out here.

Why not dress up as faries and trolls? I watched Alice in Wonderland yesterday with Johnny Depp. What WONDERFUL costumes, so so creative. If any one is interested, I will be happy to help create.
PS
For exampl, an up side down lamp shade that flares out at the bottom make a great top hat simply by adding a cardboard brim. You can use duct tape to attach brim. Paint it or glue fabric on it and embillish!
