Y’all ok out there? (UPDATED)
06/20/2015 9:54 PM by John M
Streetlights just went out as far I can see & the power is flickering up&down. Y’all ok out there?
St. John’s is dark.
Welp, spoke too soon. St. John’s is back on.
Out of town for the weekend- storms bad?
After I thought the storm had passed, lightning struck something really really close by… it was so sudden and loud… I think everything’s ok… the house is fine. We have lights…
We’re okay in Shockoe bottom-no power loss at all. Did get soaked through on the walk back from the grocery store earlier tonight, though!
There is a big tree limb down in front of Bellevue School.

Called Non-Emerg. # @ 10:06a.m. Roof section was *finally* removed maybe around 11:00. Amazing how many people had driven &/or walked by it w/o being concerned enough to make a call. There’s still a section lying across the street in the Park. *BEWARE* of roofing nails in that area. They’re notorious for flat tires and foot punctures.
@UnionHillian Thanks so much for the heads up. You are absolutely right and it just never occurred to me. My dog and I thankyou.
Well, s tea (Sweet Tea?),
What an unexpectedly friendly and polite response. You just made my Sunday.
MUCH APPRECIATED.
@UnionHillian… I suspect, like everything else, people assumed that someone else had already reported it, like the homeowner?
Tim, #13 what an awesome pic!
That was a roof?!
FYI, I stopped and called 911 at 8:35PM Saturday night and asked them to block off the street because of the roof lying/hanging there. We tried to move it, but it was way more than 3 people could do.
The homeowner did report it, they and another of their neighbors swept out the street of debris and roped off the sidewalk with caution tape. I don’t believe the city actually did anything at least not on Saturday or Sunday.
@26
Eric,
I saw something dangerous, that had apparently not been addressed, and so called like a good citizen. Per #30 (and myself), The City (or others) action was *secondary* to the Homeowner & neighbors attempts to deal with it. To My Fellow Friends and Neighbors: I commend the actions of this homeowner and neighbor, but attempting to remove that roof section (*or anything*) hanging from *any* overhead lines is extremely hazardous. Though I fully realized that Dom. VA Power might have their hands full from overnight damage and power outages, I hoped RPD or etc. would mark it, block it off. I was not present when it was finally removed, but another section is still laying curbside in the Park.
