You think going up Broad Street sucks now…

Per the City of Richmond Department of Public Works:
There will be daily intermittent lane closures on East Broad Street from 17th to 25th Streets for milling and paving the street until Friday, July 10 from 9 AM – 9 PM.
TAGGED: Broad Street
They can’t do this kind of stuff on a graveyard shift? Use to do it all the time if I recall.
Un-frickin-believable…
Thanks for the heads up…
this will change the route of our bike tour a bit..
Too bad we can’t put the corner panhandlers to good use. Maybe have them community kickstart 3rd shift overtime funding. At least get some over/unders going on first pot holes.
Uuggggggggggghh. I second the graveyard shifts.
Well, darn it.

How many omelettes is Richmond currently making?
😀
Again – I appreciate the improvements, but if we simply maintained our infrastructure as we should have been doing all along, this wouldn’t be an issue. The City of Richmond is that friend who asks for help moving, & when you get there you realize nothing is even packed. Keeping with the “omelette” theme, I think we’re all going to end up with egg on our face as this race nears closer.
To quote Anchorman, “Actually, I’m not even mad. That’s amazing.”
There seems to be some sort of conspiracy to keep us on the Hill. Have you noticed that there are lane closures on basically every Westbound street right now?
One of the more frustrating instances was when they tore up part of Jackson Street about a month ago, filled it back in, then tore up the entire street about 2 weeks later. Yay!
Doesn’t Richmond “contract” out most of its work these days anyway? If so, I feel like that is a major issue in itself when it comes to maintaining roads and general infrastructure. They can’t even fix our sidewalk which is a mess on my side of the street after 8 years of complaining. But, they can put in new sidewalks in front of abandoned buildings because it is on a “route”.
Any paving on Broad Street? Hallelujah! If it takes a bike race to change things, it so be it. It’s better than waiting at the shop for my car to get realigned more than twice a year just driving down Broad, and it’s certainly better than to hear stupid neighbors complaining about the potholes and then how/when/if it gets paved.
Imagine the jam if somebody rammed a stadium in there as well..
