Reminder: Lock your windows at night, folks
A message from Sector 111’s Lt.Sayles:
At approximately 0145 am on August 6th Richmond Police units responded to the report of a burglary in the 2100 block of M Street. The victim was home alone and heard a noise in the home.
Moments later the victims bedroom light was turned on by an unknown race male. The suspect immediately turned the light off and fled out of the residence via an opened window. It is suspected that the suspect gained entry from the same window.
Nothing was taken and there were no injuries to the victim.
Richmond Police ask that citizens be vigilant about locking all doors and windows. Please leave exterior lights on during evening hours and if possible invest in motion activated lights. Please report suspicious behavior to 911 immediately.
If you have information about this or other crimes in your area please contact crime stoppers at 780-1000.
This sounds very similar to earlier reports of a man of similar incidents.
After 7years of this BS I’m wondering why I still live here.
Oh yea, that’s right, it’s the charm. HA
We live in a city. What do you expect? In the city, suburbs or countryside, it is basic common sense to keep doors and windows locked; keep property well-lit at night; not leave valuables visible or unsecured in your car or around your home; and avoid going out alone at night. CH is super charming and it is very special but it isn’t Shangri La.
@4, speaking of living in the country – Truman Capote wrote “In Cold Blood” about a family that lived in a very remote Kansas area of the country. So thanks for your perspective, as I tend to agree with you!
Amen @4 and @5. Why invite trouble? And thanks for the In Cold Blood reference. Grew up locking doors in a small town and carried that habit with me to Brooklyn, Hells Kitchen, and Los Angeles. The only time I’ve been robbed? Middle of the afternoon when I forgot to lock my backdoor in The Fan.
