Two recent incidents of almost theft
FYI, my car was broken into on E Broad at 27th at last night. Nothing was taken but it was definitely sorted through (no clue what they were looking for). You may want to advise people to take extra care.

At ~2115 16 Aug an unidentified person opened the front door of my house. After approximately 3 seconds they slammed the door shut. I suspect that the intruder heard me talking on the phone or saw the dog and decided not to enter into the house. I did NOT visualize the intruder. After clearing the home I went out front and spotted three middle aged transients (1 female, 2 males) rifling through the Union Market trash. After seeing me the transients proceeded to stagger away. I made a non-emergent police report of the incident to a police officer who came to my home, but I was not given any sort of record number for the incident.
I keep the ceiling light turned off in my car………….that way if they get in they cannot see what is in it. Also, the first place they will check is glove compartment, so I leave that empty.
Around this same time, my car was sorted thru as well in the 2800 block of East Grace. Nothing taken, glove compartment was sorted.
I had a similar incident occur to my vehicle Sunday morning 8/16 around 9am. I was about to leave my home, and I heard a car alarm go off. Upon checking my car, no one was around, but the passenger door was half-open. Nothing was taken from the car, but the dome light was left on. This occurred across from Chimborazo Elementary at 29th and Marshall.
I would love to see more police patrols through the neighborhood.
Someone just tried to open my front door at 318 N 21st (it was locked). Person came onto the porch, tried to force the handle, failed and left quickly. I would have missed it if I hadn’t been coming down the staircase just inside the door as this happened. From my front window I saw them cross Marshall and head east down Jefferson; they walked as if drunk. No, I did not call the police.
My friend found a purse in the woods behind 29th and Grace today. Credit cards and ID were there. Dropped it off at the Police Station on Q st.
@9 well you SHOULD have called the police. SHAME on you.
Sounds like a lot of unlocked doors in Church Hill. Such an easy problem to solve.
We had a robbery back at the end of June , broke in through a windows. 4th theft around Libby Terrasse in few months. Plus some car visits. Do we have enough police?
