Armstrong opens strong with 31-8 win over George Wythe

An 85 degree day on the last weekend of August does not feel like football weather, but that didn’t stop the Armstrong Wildcats from doing terrible things to the beleaguered George Wythe Wildcats.

In a “home” game being played on the new field at Huguenot High School as the 1st game of a season-opening double header, Armstrong went up 19-0 in the very first minute of the 2nd quarter. The Wildcats built on that to win 31-8, fueled by 2 Marlon Osbourne TD runs, more than 130 running yards and a TD by Deonte Jackson, and a 61-yard TD catch by Jordin Poindexter.

Next up for Armstrong (1-0) is an away game at Thomas Jefferson on Friday, September 4. The Vikings are playing the Huguenot Falcons at Huguenot later today.
