There will be a number of opportunities to clean-up the neighborhood in advance of the bike races next Saturday, September 12. Can we get 100 or more volunteers?
- 25th Street and surrounding area
Join the New Vision Civic League & Church Hill Central for a clean-up of the 25th Street Corridor and surrounding blocks. Meet at 25th Street & Fairmount Avenue at 9AM. Bags and grabbers will be provided by the Clean City Commission. For more information, please contact: John Murden murden@gmail.com.

Please join us for a morning of service in our neighborhood. We will meet at the Jefferson Park Bandstand. Bags and grabbers will be provided by the Clean City Commission. For more information, please contact: Mark Lemaire fojp.rva@gmail.com. Please bring gloves, water bottle, closed shoes and bright clothing. Meet at the Jefferson Park Bandstand at 8:45 AM.

The UCI world championship races will bring big crowds to Libby Hill Park, which is a good thing, but all those people could damage the shade-giving trees by trampling the ground around their roots, which would not be good. YOU can help prevent that by mulching the trees to protect their roots. Meet at 29th Street and East Franklin, at the park. Street parking available. Work clothes and comfortable shoes recommended. Refreshments will be provided.

Volunteers will help beautify the entrance of the city parks along the UCI Bike Race route. Volunteers will be doing various garden activities like watering, planting, weeding, harvesting, and composting. Volunteers should prepare to potentially be in direct sun and hot conditions, which can make the work strenuous. Please dress for being outside: with sunscreen, bug spray, and bring your own water. Restrooms will be inside the park. The city will provide work gloves, but you are welcome to bring your own.

In addition, John Johnson says that:
Worked out that trash collected or large objects for CHA would be placed at strategic locations for the City to pick up on Monday morning with their trucks. Locations are Chimborazo Playground Park grass area on the West side of the park, the park house in Libby Hill Park and at the corner of Grace St and 23rd St.
Glad to see there’s large item pickup scheduled. There’s a big chair in a vacant lot on Cedar Street between Mosby and 21st that’s been sitting there for a few weeks now. Does anyone have a truck that could take it to one of the pickup locations?
This is fantastic, however, it makes little sense that the big clean-up is the morning BEFORE the Church Hill Reunion! That event generates the most trash and litter in the neighborhood, by far, than any other event! It would be much more effective to do this Sunday morning… please…
The rain is supposed to taper off by 9, come on out!
I am sporting my CHPN t-shirt. Gray wet t-shirt not as offensive early in the morning. There’s a lot of light to the south of us, so it appears to be moving thru. Let’s get ‘er done. The euros are coming, the euros are coming.
