Memorial dog replica stolen from porch
09/10/2015 8:22 PM by John M
On 9/4/15 a very important package that contained a one-of-a-kind special gift from my daughter came to me via priority mail. The post office says it was delivered but I never received it. It is a replica of my dog that I lost to cancer last year and we are very sad, it’s like losing her all over again. I live on Leigh Street in Church Hill. If anyone got this package by mistake or took it off my porch, please return it, no questions asked. I will pay a $50.00 reward for her safe return.
what block……….jus wondering?
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts, they mean so much! I live on 26th and Leigh. Maybe someone will find her, we’ll keep hoping. Going to the post office tomorrow to see if there was a problem there. Thank you again, you’re all the best!
We need to, start filling boxes with spiders, snakes, whatever nasties and keep leaving it on our porches. Barbara, we are so sorry to hear it.
Sadly, either porch thieves or incompetent mail people are strong possibilities. I can’t count how many times we had mail get delivered elsewhere and post office lied about it. Sometimes we were lucky and a neighbor would bring it by later. But I’m still missing dozens of mail pieces from five years in Church Hill.
I can’t tell you the number of times I have had mail brought over from one, two, three houses over–even from a block over. I’ve even approached our mailmen/women, but because it’s a different person day to day, they don’t retain the information.
I’m really sorry about your lost pup replica. I hope you get it back.
When it comes to package delivery, UPS and FedEx packages are as vulnerable to theft as items delivered by the Postal Service.
Just ask a neighbor to pick up your important packages, have them sent to work or have the post office hold them. I’m in school & live @ 25th & Leigh & would be happy to get your packages for you. Why tempt anyone – many desperate poor people dont know your package is irreplaceable & without decent job options its no wonder packages are sometimes too tempting to somebody that is down on their luck. I say I’d never steal but I haven’t been In the position where I was desperate enough to do so. I do know alot of people who have & I can’t judge them when I have a roof over my head. I’m not saying theft should be condoned but think about where we live. I hope you find your package and I’m sorry for the loss of your dog. I do understand that.
The worst part is, today was trash day.
I hope they can replace it at minimal cost. I’m very sorry you had this small comfort snatched out from under you, here’s hoping it comes back.
I became so frustrated about getting other peoples mail, I went to the post office and asked to see a supervisor. I had kept a list for two weeks of mail I received that wasn’t mine. Several days later I found a bright red card about the size of the average Birthday card in my mailbox.
On this pre printed card was a notation that the mail carrier had received a complaint about mail delivery. Across the bottom of this bright red card it said, ” DO NOT DELIVER THIS CARD “.
I took the bright red card to the post office and asked to see the same supervisor. The supervisor wanted the card back. I let him copy it but I wanted to keep it. Nothing changed.
We haven’t had acceptable mail delivery since Eric left!
