New signs for Libby Hill, Chimborazo parks
09/15/2015 7:17 PM by John M
I’ve seen a few comments around about the new signage at Libby Hill and Chimborazo Parks. You like?

Hate the sign in Libby Park, so over sized.
the chimbo one works well. because its such a large park. libby hill looks bad and they should feel bad
Don’t like these signs at all. I get they needed a way to let visitors know where they were, but I really wish these would get removed at the end of the races.
The Libby Hill Park sign desperately needs some landscaping.
They are way too big. And what is with the address – 2943 Libby Terrace? That address doesn’t exist! I can sort of live with the one at Chimbo, although it’s also too big, and the neighbors seem to like it since they apparently planted stuff around it….
@7 no I disagree, it desperately needs to be GONE. Landscaping won’t help it.
Ugh so much classic “How dare they!??”
I think it’s fine, enjoy the parks!
The size or design of the signs isn’t an issue for me, it’s the placement.
The sign for Chimborazo was supposed to be erected near the entrance to the park -as the one for Libby Hill was, on an angle, at the corner, near the driveway. Instead they put it smack in the middle of the green lawn that the people of the neighborhood use (or, used to use). I know it’s a big park, but why RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE LAWN….?
So basically that whole section is now unusable for the sake of a 4 ft wide sign. The civic effort is great. We all applaud that and no one wants to dump on that . I also know no matter what you do, someone will complain. But I think the placement is a valid criticism and could have been thought out a little better.
For the love of God people…get over yourselves!
If you have to ask, you don’t need to know where it is!
It’s not like Richmond has anything else it ought to be spending money on, right? Schools are just great with current budgets, aren’t they? Social services are wonderful, right? Parks and streets out of sight of tourists couldn’t possibly be better maintained, could they?
my goodness… you folks could be handed a pot of gold and you would complain it was too heavy, too shiny, and is radioactive. Can anything be done in this town without the incessant whining and complaining?
If you are standing in a particular spot, IT BLOCKS THE VIEW!
😉
I heard tonight that they have changed the signs, and Libby is now all 2801 East Franklin, but have not seen.
A very active Libby Hill resident got the city to change the sign to the correct address, 2801 East Franklin ST. We’ll all be working to get rid of the hideous signs after the Race. We can probably do the job ourselves, as we will not see another city truck up here for at least 5 years.
So I read this thread yesterday and went to look at the one in Chimbo. I really don’t think it’s bad. The hospital sign is where I would’ve thought this one should go, but I don’t mind it.
I also saw a sign for the dog park. Is that new too or am I just unobservant?
