Thank You for a GREAT weekend
The UCI is saying that more than 645,000 spectators came to the race course over 10 days, and it seems like a good half of them might’ve been somewhere between between 23rd and Libby Hill.
The Worlds was a smooth event, I didn’t see anyone angry or even frustrated. The relaxed ABC and parking enforcement was a friendly touch, it felt good to be New Orleans for a weekend. Folks from out of town and folks from across town got a “best of” experience in Church Hill this weekend.
I have never been more stoked or proud to a resident of Richmond, of Church Hill.
A week ago a lot of people were excited about the coming races, some were anxious, but I don’t think any of us expected how wonderful this past weekend would end up being around Church Hill. There are a ton of people who deserve a proper THANK YOU for this great couple of days, including:
- the neighbors who decorated their porches and tree wells
- the folks who made sure not a piece of litter was left,
- that the mail was delivered every day,
- those who passed out visitors guides to the neighborhood,
- who ensured the safety of our city, and
- those who worked every day to feed our visitors and welcome them to the neighborhood.
Who am I missing? Share it below!

I watched from 9am to 4ish Saturday at Libby Hill and had an amazing time. The Church Hill residents seemed to be really appreciative of the exposure to their wonderful neighborhood!
Thanks to all of you who came out to support this! I don’t think we’ll ever get this kind of opportunity again to show how wonderful our neighborhood and city can be, but damn we made the most of it. Incredibly proud to call you guys neighbors.
Thank YOU CHPN for keeping the hype classy, for encouraging folks to get involved and making it easy to stay connected during the whole sha-bang. Love this city. Love this hood.
So much fun spending all weekend at Libby Hill and 23rd Street! So proud of my city and especially my neighborhood!
Thanks to John Murden for keeping us all in touch, and the great photos!
Ditto all of the above!!!
Thanks to all the restaurants, pubs, bakeries and cafes on the hill. The staffs and their delivery folks got to their jobs, prepped the food and drinks, and stood by ready for the waves of hungry and thirsty fans–even when the race fans were delayed by snarled traffic, it was service with a smile. The same folks who feed and water us every day extended their hospitality (and extreme patience) for the visitors who made the journey to our little village on the hill. Y’all made us all look good!
Never been more proud to be a Richmonder. Really loved how my neighbors came out and hosted so many people.
**Here’s the homework for everyone especially those of us in the Libby Hill/South of Broad area**:…
Let’s keep the neighborly momentum going…being good neighbors to each other. I thought we did a great job of loving our international and out of state guests…let’s do a better job of loving each other (including those in North Church Hill). What an opportunity to become a more harmonious community. Great job folks
To all the residents of Churchill- WELLDONE! Thank you for embracing the race and showing the city and hopefully, the counties, what real hospitality is all about.
Church Hill was amazing. 2300 looked fabulous, the home decor was spot on, and Libby Hill was a blast. I got great photos, enjoyed a couple beers, and though I didn’t bring my own bevs, I gave MAJOR high fives to the relaxed ABC/cops who were just focused on making sure everyone was safe and happy. People kept everything under control and Richmond looked AMAZING. I was so proud to show it off to my brother, who was visiting from DC. #Richmond2015 was a winner all around, in every ‘hood!
This weekend was so wonderful – it was so fun to talk to all the visitors about our amazing neighborhood, so great to constantly run into neighbors out at the races who make it such an amazing neighborhood, and so necessary to have all of our local businesses have an amazing baked good, coffee, beer, etc. when needed! Let’s do it – or something like it – again soon!
I was blown away by how well Church Hill and the rest of the City looked and responded to this. I met people from all over the world and everyone was having a great time!
ENJOY!

Most surprisingly, among all the great flags, no stars and bars!
Thanks to all of the volunteers and other workers for a first-class event.
