Man shot on Redd Street (UPDATED)
WTVR is reporting an overnight shooting on Redd Street:
Police say the victim was shot in the 1900 block of Redd Street around 1:15 a.m. Sunday. They say he suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The Richmond Police Department has identified the victim in this morning’s Redd Street homicide investigation.
At approximately 2:19 AM, officers were called to the 1900 block of Redd Steet for the report of a person down. Officers arrived and found William E. Crutchfield, 34, of the 1900 block of Redd Street, in a residence suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.
Detectives are actively working leads in the case and encourage anyone with information about this incident to call Major Crimes Detective Anthony Coates at (804) 646-0729 or Crime Stoppers at 780-1000. Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637, using the key word “ITip” followed by your tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
This is the 11th homicide in the East End this year. Of those 11 killings, six have come in that immediate area of Mosby Court.

Maybe it’s time to station police at every corner. The community should not allow this to keep happening. Until they stop supporting the activities that get people shot, maybe they should be under lock down.
I know it sounds harsh, but when is enough enough? It does not appear to ever be enough.
@3 and 4, Cadeho I don’t know you but you usually sound pretty reasonable to me on this blog. I rather like your idea of police at every corner but i doubt the police have the manpower (or woman power) to enact that. However, “the community should not allow this to happen” is something I agree with – but how does that end? How do you get the community to say, stop it? And tearing down Mosby Court won’t, IMHO, stop it, it would just move the same people (with their guns) to a different place.
Am I missing something? He was shot at 1 but they were called at 2? Non-life threatening injuries but died on the scene? Is this the same crime?
@5 – a couple hundred bucks on some good closed circuit cameras seems in order. Even as bad as our city budget is, it seems like that should be do-able.

It’s especially sad when you remember that the purpose of that area is to provide a place for needy women with families to have a safe place to live. How many kids were within a block of all this shit?
