Laundry Love this Saturday

Melanie Mullen has set up another Laundry Love day for tomorrow (Saturday) at the Richmond Coin Laundry at 2501 North 25th Street:
— ∮∮∮ —
Meet the East End & Church Hill Together for Laundry Love
Laundry Love is not a service project or something you “do to” “or for” people. It’s an expression of living “with” others.
- people joining together.
- not only about affecting but also being affected. It fosters a mutual life change through relational reciprocity.
- encourage everyday hospitality and rebuilding or rekindling trust within a community or neighborhood through human care. Unity built by selfless concern and consistency.
- to live lives that return.
- through the neutral space of a laundromat, every guest and stranger can become a friend. This idea tears at the labeled constructs of “us” and “them” and erodes the societal, economic and cultural divides that separate people.
I am not sure I understand. You want us to all show up and wash our laundry together?
and are we donating quarters if we have them, or is someone else bringing the money and we’re just hanging out washing clothes together?
Nothing’s more neighborly than chatting over the clothes line… We’ve gathered enough quarters to “adopt” the laundry mat for 3 hours this Saturday. All are welcome — especially anyone for whom saving a little might make a big difference.
Sounds perfect. Thank you for clarifying for me!
