Established in 1998 as part of the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s work with the Commonwealth of Virginia and the City of Richmond on the Children’s Urban Mental Health Initiative, the East District Family Resource Center’s mission is to “provide access to services and opportunities in order for East End residents to thrive, be healthy, and engaged.” Succinctly, the FRC offers a on-the-ground support to our neighbors in need:

  • emergency assistance programs (emergency food pantry, career clothing closet, energy assistance),
  • education & outreach initiatives (GED host site, YHELI after-school programs, health wellness initiative, computer classes),
  • career & workforce development (entrepreneurship training program),
  • and work to promote positive family development.
